SG40
gearbox – a new drive concept
Having
launched a prototype and clinched the innovation prize
in 2015 with a radical new design of gearbox, GfA
Germany is now going into production with drive units
featuring the SG40 gearbox with integrated frequency
inverter.
The
new SE 8.65 Fi drive unit which uses GfA’s new SG40
gearbox, has been specifically designed for use with
counter-balanced sectional doors.
Its extremely
compact design, integrated frequency inverter and other
unique functions mean customers here in the UK are
already queuing up to trial it.
The drive has a
light-weight, compact one-box design allowing for
greater flexibility during installation.
The
drive unit is fast, easy and safe to fit due to a
completely new single plug connection system between the
drive unit and the TS door control. This takes GfA’s
existing plug and play installation to the next
level.
The SE 8.65 Fi drive will be in full
production in 2019 and we will be notifying customers
when standard units are available. To express an

GfA
drives and controls with UL approval
As we
strive to meet the needs of your international customers
we’re pleased to be able to offer a full range of drive
solutions with UL approval for use in the North American
and Middle Eastern markets.
A new door
control system to meet UL requirements is currently
being produced, with full UL approval planned for later
in 2018.

GfA+
App and bluetooth stick just got
better
Many customers have been reaping
the benefits of fault diagnostics and troubleshooting
using the GfA+ App and GfA-Stick for some time. At
Stuttgart we launched an upgraded version of the App
with an extension to the error guide making it even
easier to read, understand and rectify faults.
The latest version of the App can be downloaded from Apple
and Android
App stores now.

Sneak
preview of prototype products
Our German colleagues introduced
two prototypes at R+T, one of which won an award for
innovation. Winning in the category of ‘Drive and
control systems for door/gates’ the Universal chain
tensioner12-20 was noted for having very
low product and installation costs and offering unique
flexibility.
In addition, concepts were
shown for Fireproof FS Drive Units. The
prototype drive units are designed with combined
worm/planetary gears to be used as direct mount drives.
These drives will allow for narrower door design and
provide access to the large range of GfA accessories for
worm gears.
These
are just prototypes at this stage but if sufficient
interest is received GfA will undertake thorough testing
before bringing the products to market. Feel free to
register your interest as we will be keeping in touch
with the development team in Germany to bring you
further updates.
