Durable drive solution for sliding doors

SG85R ST 16.24

SG115R ST 60.15
GfA has released to the UK a unique range of exceptionally hardwearing drives to improve the performance of industrial sliding doors and gates.

The ST drives have an integrated slipping clutch arrangement that guarantees low-wear, cost-effective operation. The clutch allows gates and doors to pick up gently from the starting position. To achieve the same effect with a traditional drive, a separate soft-start panel would need to be fitted.

ST drives are available in sizes from 90Nm to 800Nm, allowing doors weighing up to a massive eight tonnes to be driven. Ideal applications would be aircraft hanger doors, extra large loading bay doors and supermarket delivery gates.

The ST drive links seamlessly with additional equipment to enhance door performance and security. It can be used alongside an external inverter to increase the speed of operation. An electro-magnetic brake can also be fitted. This gives added security to premises as it locks the door and drive unit in the position you require and prevents the door from being manually pushed open.

You can download the ST Drive datasheet here. For technical support and advice on the right drives to suit your application please contact our technical sales team on 01926 452452.

Travis Perkins plc appoints GfA in ‘Stay Safe’ initiative
GfA has been chosen by Travis Perkins plc, the UK’s leading supplier of building materials, to support a major review of roller shutters and overhead sectional doors across a large swathe of its 2,000-unit estate.

GfA is sole drives and controls supplier for the review. Gary Soars, who is managing the project for Travis Perkins plc, said: "We wanted to specify a reliable product for our upgrade programme. We chose GFA because of their reputation as the leader within the door industry. GFA not only manage to be cost-effective without impacting on either safety or quality, but offer the support and guidance needed to help us in standardizing all industrial doors throughout the groups sites".

The impetus behind the review, to ensure all trade and retail site shutters are fully functional and compliant with standards, was Travis Perkins plc’s ‘Stay Safe’ initiative. This programme is a cornerstone of how the organisation operates and is an inherent part of its culture. The ‘Stay Safe’ programme ensures the safety of its 26,000 employees as well as its customers and suppliers.

Travis Perkins plc is the UK’s leading supplier of building materials to the construction and home improvement markets with leading brands including Travis Perkins, Wickes, Toolstation, City Plumbing and BSS Industrial.

GfA National Sales Manager Peter Whittles says: ‘We are very proud to be working with Travis Perkins plc. I’m sure the functionality and usability of our products, added to our team’s in-depth knowledge of the standards, technical know-how, and ability to specify the right equipment will provide invaluable support for Travis Perkins and the door companies on the project.’
Demonstration boards available for customer premises
In June, a new product showroom in Oswestry will be opened by one of our customers. An integral part of the display will be a GfA TS 971 control panel demonstration board.

The board will allow the customer to show the TS 971 in action to his mainly trade customers and train them on its use and application. The move came about after GfA conducted training for the customer. Seeing the value, he asked for our help in bringing the experience to life for his users.

The TS 971 control panel board is available to buy from the GfA product catalogue. It is attached to a working drive unit and available as a showpiece demonstrator or for training purposes. Contact your account manager to discuss if a similar proposition would work for you.

Free training options available from GfA

Our training centres in Warwick and Warrington are available to you for product training, presentations and meetings.
